Some KDE4 builds seem to require the 'kde-config' program. This is a bug, however, as KDE4's config is actually called 'kde4-config' (on gentoo at least), and 'kde-config' is for KDE3. While it would appear that KDE3's config is sufficient to work, if you don't have kdelibs-3.5.* installed, it doesn't exist thus causing the builds to fail. Incidentally, because kde-config is slotted into /usr/kde/3.5/bin/, these builds could fail under su or sudo unless PATH is updated. The affected builds are: pykde4 semantic (0.7.0, from bug 185523) pykde4 is a particular problem because it fails more-or-less silently, and was only able to get it to build once I discovered this bug via semantic (which basically fails with "kde-config not found"). Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Remove kde-config from PATH 2. attempt to build pykde4 / semantic Actual Results: The build fails. Expected Results: The build succeeds.
Current stable pykde4 is 4.3.1, and I couldn't reproduce this bug. Or with 4.3.2. Reopen if this is still an issue.
same problem here with kde 4.3
(In reply to comment #2) > same problem here with kde 4.3 > What problem? It was never clear from this bug report what's wrong. Missing build.log's, emerge --info's and so forth...
