Same here, looks like a missing mask.
You need to remove all references to KDE-4.1 from /var/lib/portage/world*. Upstream broked the ABI for phonon between 4.1 and 4.2 and thus our only solution was to make new phonon block all older versions. KDE-4.1 apps should be able to use the new phonon. If you need more detailed instructions, join #gentoo-kde in the freenode or oftc irc networks.
(In reply to comment #2) > You need to remove all references to KDE-4.1 from /var/lib/portage/world*. Er..: grep -i kde world* world:dev-util/kdesvn world:kde-base/kde-l10n world:kde-base/kde-meta world:kde-base/kdeplasma-addons world:kde-base/ksig world:kde-misc/krecipes world:kde-misc/tellico world:kde-plasmoids/cpuload world:kde-plasmoids/panelspacer world:kde-plasmoids/plasma-netgraph world:kde-plasmoids/plasma-weather world:kde-plasmoids/qalculate-applet world:kde-plasmoids/toggle-compositing world:sci-calculators/qalculate-kde There's no explicit reference to kde-4.1 - so what exactly do I have to remove? Regards, Mark
(In reply to comment #3) For testing I've removed *any* kde-* package from world, right now grep -i kde world kde-base/kde-meta And still I've got the same bug. [ebuild U ] media-sound/phonon-4.3.0 [4.2.0] USE="xcb%* xine%*" [ebuild N ] kde-base/phonon-xine-4.1.4 USE="xcb -debug -kdeprefix" [blocks B ] kde-base/phonon-xine ("kde-base/phonon-xine" is blocking media-sound/phonon-4.3.0)
Of course. From /usr/portage/media-sound/phonon/phonon-4.3.0.ebuild: !kde-base/phonon-xine So the two cannot coexist, and phonon-xine is required by: $ equery d phonon-xine [ Searching for packages depending on phonon-xine... ] kkde-base/dragonplayer-4.1.4 (kde-base/phonon-xine:4.1[xcb]) kde-base/kdebase-meta-4.1.4 (>=kde-base/phonon-xine-4.1.4:4.1) Until KDE 4.2 (thus kdebase-meta-4.2 and dragonplayer-4.2) is unmasked, phonon-4.3 needs to be masked too.
I have the same thing when doing emerge -quDNa world
Sorry about that, media-sound/phonon-4.3.0 has been masked until we unmask all KDE-4.2.0 packages. For those of you unmasking the packages, be warned that for now you'll have to remove all plasmoids from the world file as they have a hard dep on libplasma that is blocked by kdelibs-4.2.0.
I've unmasked 4.2.0 now so this should be fixed. If anyone hits this again, please reopen the bug.
