What do you mean "does not see my drive"?
Did this work with an earlier version?
What does cdrskin -scanbus say?
Are there any applications that do detect the drive?
Have you tried the cdrtools use flag? (You'll need to uninstall cdrkit)
Comment 3 Balint Dobai-Pataky 2009-01-27 17:25:40 UTC
it did work before.
if i open up the 'blank disk' form(from the 'erase' menu), in the 'select a disc' combo i see the following 'searching for available discs' for a while, then 'no available disc'
i did not try any other applications, but i'll be back with the rest of your answers shortly
Comment 4 Balint Dobai-Pataky 2009-01-27 17:58:30 UTC
cdrskin -scanbus
cdrskin 0.5.8 : limited cdrecord compatibility wrapper for libburn
cdrskin: scanning for devices ...
cdrskin: ... scanning for devices done
Using libburn version '0.5.8'.
scsibus5:
	5,0,0 0) 'ASUS ' 'DRW-1814BLT ' '1.04' Removable CD-ROM

and i realized, i'm running the scans as root, and running brasero as a user not in the cdrom group.

SORRY

LOL, that's quite alright. I'm glad you found out where the problem was :-)
