'emerge app-text/manedit' puts everything in the root dir, so it leaves you with a /man, /share, etc... I think it's ignoring the PREFIX= setting. I took a quick look at the Makefile, but everything *seemed* to be in order. I think the problem lies in 'manedit/Makefile.install.UNIX' , but I don't know how to go about diagnosing this :( .
Sorry about that. It was an oversight on my part. The 'make install' prefix was missing the /usr part. I have corrected it. http://gentoo.twobit.net/ebuilds/manedit-0.5.6-r1.tgz Try to cc/email the author when you report a bug.

Hi! Commited fix to CVS. Thanks Nicholas for following up on your submitted ebuild. FYI: I also made some formatting fixes so that the ebuild would pass the lintool tests, i.e. tabs for spaces, all required env variables. diff the new rev to the old for more info. lintool is part of the app-admin/gentoolkit package and is valuable for testing ebuilds.
