I have repeatedly tried to emerge gimp without success each time it appears to crash upon reaching the plug-ins dir Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. CFLAGS="-march=athlon-xp -O2 -pipe" 3. emerge gimp Actual Results: Builds a certain way before bombing out Expected Results: compiled
Created attachment 15271 [details] Full log of the emerge and my emerge info
i've got a feeling you've posted the results of emerge gimp > build.log, which unfortunately doesnt log the error messages. could you possibly emerge gimp 2> errors.log, which should give us the gcc errors? thanks (and thanks for your emerge info)

try setting USE=-perl to see if its a perl plugin problem . what version of perl ebuild are you running ? CC perl@g.o because i think it might have todo with the recent changes there.
I'm currently using 5.8.0, am currently attempting a build with use=-perl, when doing this it compiled and installed successfully under 1.2.4
perl team, anything in here look familiar ?
Karl, Can you confirm that you have PDL (dev-perl/PDL) installed and that it is actually in your tree (locate PDL should reveal something similar to - with differences for your tree/architecture - locate PDL|grep Dev => /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.0/i686-linux/PDL/Core/Dev.pm) Thanks, Michael
I have version 2.4.0 of PDL installed however when doing a locate there is no Dev.pm
Any upgrades of perl after the installation of PDL? In particular, a 5.6.1 -> 5.8.0 upgrade? It doesn't sound like PDL is installed correctly is why I ask.
there was an upgrade to 5.8.0 i think, i thought of that and reemerged PDL..no difference
reassigning to perl, cause we havent had any problems with gimp & the perl plugin for a long time, so the only probable cause is the change in those ebuilds. On the other hand, we had no further reports. Which may suggest this is the usual one out of 10k problem and there's little to do about it. Reporter, does this problem still persist ?
Someone emailed me a suggestion i thought it came through here but it must have been direct I no longer have the email but what ever it was it worked and gimp compiled.
