Description Olaf Walkowiak 2009-01-20 13:33:30 UTC
gnustep-make is configured to use native exceptions, gnustep-base with ffcall will not install

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. emerge gnustep-base

Actual Results:
You do not have either ffcall or libffi installed, or configure needs
--with-ffi-include and/or --with-ffi-library flags so GNUstep can find them,
or you have ffcall but gnustep-make is configured to use native exceptions
(native exceptions are not compatible with ffcall).

I tried with gcc-4.1.2 too, same result

Patch for gnustep-makefile-2.0.7.ebuild

I had the same problem. It can be fixed with some hacking into gnustep-make-2.0.7.ebuild (which btw has newer version, 2.0.8 accoording to GNUstep News).
I'm not sure if the ffcall -dependency I added is needed in make, but at least that seems to work. I would guess, it is needed.
Comment 7 Bernard Cafarelli gentoo-dev 2009-01-28 13:05:31 UTC
Yes, sorry I missed that as I have libffi installed and the configure script did not complain then (even with USE=-gcc-libffi), thanks for the report and suggestions!

As for the real problem, I've added a USE flag for native exceptions in gnustep-make with bump to bugfix release 2.0.8 (will close bug #192394 in the process), and bumped gnustep-base-1.18.0 to -r1 with a depend on USE=-native-exceptions gnustep-make when using ffcall.

Fixed in CVS
