A user asked me if we could create PDFs from our documents, so that printing them is easier and better to read. Due to the fact we create our documents in XML it should be quite simple to create with the help of XSL and XSL-FO an own stylesheet for PDFs. This is more a long-term issue. In the meantime we should make use of the guide-print.xsl in CVS and add a link to a printable version to the documents, that will point to the with guide-print generated document.
we have enabled printable documentation, as mentioned on the gentoo-doc mailing list. PDF is more of a problem given the weak support that AxKit provides for PDF generation. There are solutions, but most involve going through multiple layers of conversion to get a PDF doc as the end result. At this point, I'm not comfortable with implementing a system that complex and would rather wait until something more elegant and cleaner comes around down the road.
