With my normal MAKEOPTS="-j -l21", portaudio fails to build.  With MAKEOPTS=-j1 set in /etc/portage/env/dev-libs/portaudio, it builds and merges fine.

make[2]: *** No rule to make target `../../../lib/libportaudio.la', needed by `libportaudiocpp.la'.  Stop.

Let me know if you need the entire build log and/or emerge --info.  FWIW, I'm on ~amd64.

Sorry about the thinko in the original summary.  dev-libs != media-libs!  I obviously should have been sleeping by then but wanted to get the bug reported while it was fresh.

Anyway, here's emerge --info.
