when I try to update to vlc-0.9.8a, aclocal fails with the error: # ac-wrapper: Unable to locate any usuable version of autoconf. # I tried these versions: 2.62:2.5 2.61:2.5 2.60:2.5 2.59:2.5 2.13:2.1 # With a base name of '/usr/bin/autom4te'. # aclocal-1.10: autom4te failed with exit status: 1 Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. emerge =vlc-0.9.8a 2. sit back 3. watch aclocal fail to do anything useful. Actual Results: Failed, couldn't load autoconf, aclocal, or (guessing) something else. Expected Results: Perfectly normal install, just like always.

Looks, like you are mixing stable and unstable. You need sys-devel/autoconf-wrapper-6.
(In reply to comment #2) > Looks, like you are mixing stable and unstable. > You need sys-devel/autoconf-wrapper-6. > I already have that installed. I re-emerged it, just to be safe, and now aclocal is working beautifully. Thank you.
