Description Andrei Voropaev 2009-01-15 13:01:54 UTC
Originally I had ATI graphics card. Later I've installed NVidia and removed the package for ATI drivers. Since then revdep-rebuild reports that

 * !!! /usr/bin/amdcccle not owned by any package is broken !!!
 *   /usr/bin/amdcccle -> (none)

Reproducible: Didn't try
Comment 1 Jeroen Roovers (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2009-01-15 17:30:14 UTC
You could simply remove it and go on with life. It's likely that at the time of removal of the package, /usr/bin/amdcccle had been touched, its mtime updated, whereafter sys-apps/portage refused to remove it. That's probably a bug, but one that should be fixed for a long time now.

Now, if you want to take this further, it's important that you post your `emerge --info' too. However, if you think removal of the file is enough, then please leave this bug report closed.

Fine with me. I would remove this and forget it, but I have no idea how to do it. Just removing the file does not remove the messages about it. So I guess I have remove information from the portage. But where is this information?

Just in case, here's my emerge --info.

try:
equery belongs /usr/bin/amdcccle

that should show any packages holding a pointer to it. If nothing, it can safely be rm'ed.
Comment 4 Jeroen Roovers (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2009-01-16 13:14:02 UTC
Probably x11-apps/ati-drivers-extra.
Comment 5 Andrei Voropaev 2009-01-16 13:29:54 UTC
Funny. Yesterday I've tried to remove it and executed revdep-rebuild. The complaints were still there. Today repeated the same thing, everything is just fine. Possibly I have overlooked something yesterday.

Thanks, now everything is clean.
