It looks like we're having some trouble with flakey hardware. The gentoo-portage rsync mirror at rsync18.us.gentoo.org (acm.cs.rpi.edu, 128.213.5.35) is unavailable until we're able to find a solution. I'll keep this up-to-date on the status. In one more month, we'll have many more people around to support it in situations like this. Sorry for the trouble. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3.
Thanks for the info. Removed from main, namerica and .us rotations. Do you expect it to be down for long, or just a short while?
There's a chance it will be back up tonight. If not then, new hardware will be brought in on Thursday to replace our ailing firewall.
It's back, finally. We're still planning on swapping hardware on Thursday in an attempt to put an end to this nonsense. It seems logical to me if you want to leave this mirror out until later this week when we have more confidence in its long-term stability, or it should be fine for the next few days, at which point it should only be down for a couple of minutes.
Its still accessible as rsync18, just not through the rotations. Since you know there is downtime coming, I'll just leave it out of the rotations until that is completed. Also, when you get a chance, could you update the motd information to include that it is "rsync18.us.gentoo.org"? Thanks.
It is back, and the issues we had should be completely resolved. Our old, decaying firewall was replaced with a shiny new machine. - motd updated, too. Thank you.
Whenever you're ready to add us back into rotation, we are.
OK, server is back into the .us and .namerica rotations. Thanks.
