Synergy seems to crash readily on my 64-bit gcc 4.3 setup. Since upstream is dormant, we probably need to apply a bit of patches to make this worthy of portage. All Fedora patches apply cleanly. Working well, and C&P between Windows works as expected (The selection patch is probably also important).
Time to do a package move to Synergy+. Synergy has been dormant since 2006. http://www.ohloh.net/p/synergy-plus
Marking as WONTFIX. The correct action is to stabilize #277320 and hard mask synergy. Synergy+ should package replace the old one.
