as in summary. patch for agpgart is available in nvidia drivers for nforce Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. jsut boot it with ati card. no chances to start xfree.
This is fixed with current kernels, correct? Maybe this bug can be closed.
as for current gs-sources (2.4.22_pre2) nvidia nforce2 agpgart is included and everything is ok. as for previous kernels (2.4.21..) bug exist.
what he means his that current NVAGP GART code would only work with a NVIDIA gfx card inside, but not with any other brand. i know it was the case but i think that now this is no more (in fact, in 2.6, i'm really not sure for 2.4) right or wrong, it is not a gentoo bug, but a kernel bug/mis-feature
Actually, using gs-sources 2.4.23_pre7 and a Radeon 8500 (with the XFree DRM drivers) causes my system to lock incredibly hard (hard reset only solution), so some sort of bug has been reintroduced since the fixes in pfeifer-sources 2.4.20.
reopen if new kernels/drivers have not fixed
I've had no problems with recent kernels and my ATI card, so I'd say this is a good and closed. :)
