Latest version of ntfs-3g in portage is 1.5012. Latest upstream is 1.5130, released on 2008-12-01. It's a bugfix release. There was one change: Reading a data storage with permanent or temporary physical damage, or a partial read system call could result ignoring the low level hardware error and returning invalid data. The stable release fixes this issue. Upgrade is recommended to be able to detect hardware faults earlier, being able to cope with them better and to minimize data loss in these increasingly more common scenarios (huge rotating disks, rapidly spreading SSDs). The current 1.5012 ebuild in portage works fine when renaming to 1.5130.
