The following potential problem came up in the Trustees meeting on the 11th. Apparently our graphic is the same as or very similar to a graphic which is registered to Apple. If it is registered to Apple, we would need permission to continue using it. However, the trustees believe that we would be better off changing the graphic: NeddySeagoon> antarus, yes. We should just change our graphic Hence, this bug. At a minimum we need permission from Apple to keep using that logo (unless we already have it, of course). If this is not your bug, please let us know whose it is and reassign it. Thanks. Full details in the meeting log which is (or will be) posted.
One piece of information, it is difficult to define ownership on a bug when it is not clear which images the bug is about. I assume it is about http://www.gentoo.org/images/icon-penguin.png but I would prefer a (probably incomplete) list of URLs of images that we need to get permission for or replace. It seems most of our stuff uses larry, or the saucer or the stylized G; do we know of other places that the penguin is used?

That image is used in front of news items on our front page. If you want to use another pic, please let me know and I'll edit the xsl. Pic has to be 100px wide BTW.
I propose we use the linux kernel image for now, while we get another, more gentoo specific, from the community. http://www.isc.tamu.edu/~lewing/linux/sit3-shine.7.gif Terms are: " Permission to use and/or modify this image is granted provided you acknowledge me lewing@isc.tamu.edu and The GIMP if someone asks." From here: http://www.isc.tamu.edu/~lewing/linux/
