Description Hubert Kowalski 2009-01-11 15:39:18 UTC
After Update to ati-drivers-8.561 and all related dependencies (incl. xorg-server and couple of others - about 100 packages) X fails to start, giving out backtrace and error "Can not get FB MC address" on second screen (fglrx(1)) and because of that whole X doesn't want to start

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Update ati-drivers and xorg-server
2. Reboot
3. See how X tries to start but fails miserably

Actual Results:
X crashes with mentioned error message and simply won't run

Expected Results:
X starts nicely

(because I am writting from links2 -g and I suck at paste under it from console, will add info later)

Oddly enough couple of news arrived today from my experiments: even on initial settings for dual-head driver simply refuses to work. However if I plug out second monitor it works great. Additionally, big-desktop mode works almost like a charm, but it's far from what I need in dual-head.

I don't think there's anything we can do about this... marking upstream.
