Upon trying to emerge kdiff3-0.9.92-r1 configure fails with the message: "you need to install kdelibs first." I have both kde-base/kdelibs-3.5.10-r2 and kde-base/kdelibs-4.1.3-r1 installed. The error message suggest maybe configure choose a QT version diferent from the one used to compile KDE, I have however seen in the output of configure the following: checking for Qt... libraries /usr/qt/3/lib, headers /usr/qt/3/include using -mt checking for moc... /usr/qt/3/bin/moc checking for uic... /usr/qt/3/bin/uic Also I have x11-libs/qt-3.3.8b-r1 and x11-libs/qt-4.4.2 installed. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. emerge kdelibs-4.* 2. emerge kdelibs-3.* 3. try to emerge kdiff3-0.9.92-r1 Actual Results: Fails to emerge. Expected Results: Emerge should work properly. FYI. There is a new version of kdiff3 with kde4 support here: http://www.kde-apps.org/content/show.php/KDiff3?content=9807 Changelog: KDiff3 0.9.93: - KDE4 support (for other changes see the homepage)
Thanks for the tip, hopefully that will get packaged and put into the portage tree soon. I hate to install packages from outside portage, makes managing them much more dificult.
FWIW, I've just emerged kdiff3-0.9.92-r1 with KDE 4.2 installed (which reinstalled kdelibs 3.5 at the same time), and did not hit the problem As for KDE4 version, it's available in portage too now (0.9.94)

Same goes for kdiff3-0.9.95 which is the version for kde4 :]
