Description Tom Lloyd 2009-01-07 14:03:00 UTC
sys-devel/gcc-3.4.6-r2 compiles as expected without distcc, but fails if
it's turned on.

Compiling machine: powerpc-gentoo-linux-uclibc
Assisting machine: i686-pc-linux-gnu

Attachment with full buildlog to follow.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. FEATURES="distcc" emerge -1v =sys-devel/gcc-3.4.6-r2 # Fails
2. FEATURES="-distcc" emerge -1v =sys-devel/gcc-3.4.6-r2 # Works

Comment 2 Patrick Lauer gentoo-dev 2009-01-07 18:52:43 UTC
I wonder if distcc across architectures is supported at all?
Comment 3 Tom Lloyd 2009-01-07 19:00:29 UTC
Do you mean specifically for gcc?
Because in general, yes it is: http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/cross-compiling-distcc.xml
Comment 4 SpanKY gentoo-dev 2009-01-09 07:10:31 UTC
in general, yes. but executing `gcc` should not trigger a compile on a non-native system.
Comment 5 Tom Lloyd 2009-01-09 12:18:03 UTC
How come this bug has been closed? From my point of view as a user, an exception to the normal mode of operation, (everything compiling correctly, whether I have FEATURES="distcc" or not), is a valid bug.

Can you help me to understand the rationale behind marking this as RESOLVED/INVALID?
Comment 6 SpanKY gentoo-dev 2009-01-09 15:42:47 UTC
you setup your distcc environment incorrectly. using distcc wrappers for `gcc` in a cross-compiling setup is wrong.
