Description Martin Mokrejš 2009-01-05 10:20:04 UTC
Hi,
  I need to test my server which started to have problems recently. I placed
the disk elsewhere to spin up and the remaining crappy hardware I wanted
to test thoroughly from LiveCD. I wanted to emerge some packages into
the live system but it failed:

# emerge cpuburn dbench piozone bashmark

[cut]

>>> Source compiled.
>>> Test phase [not enabled]: app-benchmarks/cpuburn-1.4

>>> Install cpuburn-1.4 into /var/tmp/portage/app-benchmarks/cpuburn-1.4/image/ category app-benchmarks
>>> Completed installing cpuburn-1.4 into /var/tmp/portage/app-benchmarks/cpuburn-1.4/image/

Comment 2 Andrew Gaffney (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2009-01-05 15:23:49 UTC
The LiveCD doesn't currently use unionfs (there's forthcoming support) and the root filesystem is squahsfs, which is read-only by nature.
