Description Toralf Förster gentoo-dev 2009-01-04 12:31:47 UTC
Re-emergin that package within a chrooted user mode linux image (via /mnt/loop) I got :

...
/var/tmp/portage/sys-libs/glibc-2.6.1/work/build-default-i686-pc-linux-gnu-nptl/elf/ldconfig: Can't open configuration file /etc/ld.so.conf: No such file or directory
...

and later:

...
>>> Installing sys-libs/glibc-2.6.1
 * >>> SetUID: [chmod go-r] /usr/lib/misc/glibc/pt_chown ...                                                         [ ok ]
telinit: /dev/initctl: No such file or directory
...

but thte UML starts and runs fine.

Reproducible: Always

Did you (forget to) mount --bind /dev into that chroot? If doing that solves this issue, then we make the other issue the focus of this bug report.

I didn't mount /dev into that chroot - probably that's the root cause for one of the 2 mentioned issues. The other however still remains (I ree-emerged glibc also at the host), isn't it ?

Please post the `emerge --info' for the chrooted environment.

ive sent the output of telinit to /dev/null, but the ld.so.conf file is something you need to fix. your system should have one which portage generates automatically.
