I have setup a full mirror at (ftp|http)://gentoo.kems.net located in Kuwait with a 5Mbps of bandwidth for out of Kuwait clients and 45Mbps for Clients inside of Kuwait. Please provide access to the main rsync server as well as the listing as an official mirror. If you would like a webpage mirror as well let me know and I'll be happy to provide it. Thanks, Rami AlZaid
For the rsync side, I've added 168.187.5.244 to the access list for rsync1.us.gentoo.org. Please update your rsync cron jobs to point to rsync1.us.gentoo.org and post back here when you've done so. We'll monitor the server for a couple days to make sure things are working fine. I'll have someone send you information regarding the source mirror. Thanks.
We've already been providing an rsync mirror for the past few months and we are just switching to provide a full mirror since we have the space now. Thanks, Rami AlZaid
Any updates about the source mirror access?
Our distfiles mirror maintainer is currently on vacation. Hopefully he'll be able to get with you within a week or two. Sorry for the delay.
Just to keep you updated, I'm working on source mirrors now. Give me a couple of days, and I'll be able to get you some more information to get this going. Thanks.
Looks like the syncing is a little off. Is the server updating every 4 hours? The last update was at "Fri, 29 Aug 2003 10:55:01 +0000". As of now, "Fri, 29 Aug 2003 16:28:02 +0000", it is about 90 minutes behind.
No it's updating every 8 hours. I'm using an ftp mirroring software for now since I wasn't able to get any fast rsync access to any of the mirrors listed when I set it up. As soon as I get access to your rsync server I'll have it update every 4 hours.
OK, I'll go ahead and send some instructions on accessing our private distfiles mirror. Once you update your scripts, I'll make sure the 4hr syncs are OK, then we'll add it to the mirrors page. Thanks.
Ok the mirror has been setup since yesterday and everything seems working fine.
If you server is updating every 4 hours, there are some errors. I just did a check at "Tue, 02 Sep 2003 02:38:47 +0000". As of then, the last sync was at "Mon, 01 Sep 2003 07:55:00 +0000". That's about 18 hours behind.
The problem has been fixed and the mirror is working fine now.
I've done some monitoring and haven't noticed any problems. I'm ready to add the mirror to the mirrors page. Is there a name (company, organization, university, etc) you'd like used to refer to the mirror?
KEMS-Zajil, Kuwait Thanks, Rami
The mirrors page has been updated and the changes should be visible in about 30 minutes or so. Thanks for supporting Gentoo.
I saw the listing but actually we are not just for clients coming from Kuwait. We are open for everyone and currently with no limits but if we needed to, we will limit the bandwidth for out of Kuwait clients to 5Mbps
OK, I'll update it within the next couple of days as we add the next set of mirrors. If you need to limit the out of Kuwait clients, just submit a bug bug report so we can make update the mirrors page. Thanks.
Rami, I saw that the gentoo.kems.net mirror is about 20 days old according to http://mirrorstats.gentoo.org/. Any word on whether you will continue to mirror gentoo, or if I can remove you from the list? Regards, Jeffrey
Infra, is this mirror fixed? If so, please close the bug.
I just checked mirrorstats and it looks updated and working. Closing as WORKSFORME.
