Which package is causing this problem? sys-apps/hal or kde-misc/kkbswitch? (It certainly doesn't seem to be caused by x11-base/xorg-7.4.) What package owns this file?: /etc/hal/fdi/policy/10-x11-input.fdi

not sure, kkbswitch has only one version in the tree.
the file's owner is hal-0.5.11-r4
not sure if it is related to hal cause I can't seem to remember what packages were upgraded, when I've used xserver without hal flag the problem still persisted.

Let's blame kde-misc/kkbswitch first. :)
