Description stano170 2009-01-02 11:44:13 UTC
After updating to sys-kernel/gentoo-sources-2.6.27-r7 I don't modify any text file on cifs shares. I can add, rename, delete file but don,t modify in openoffice, kwrite, kedit ...
Kernel 2.6.26 hasn't any problem

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.create samba share on server and create some text file
2.mount samba share using mount.cifs on gentoo-sources-2.6.27-r7 (stable kernel)
3.open the file in openoffice or kwrite, edit and save changes in file
4.read error messages :-)

Please provide the mount info about that share (output from the `mount' command), your `emerge --info' and the permissions listed for the file in question (output from the `stat' command). dmesg output may also be of interest.

I must use kernel 2.6.26-gentoo-r4 and on this kernel is no problem

PS. I'm from slovakia, my english is bad.
Comment 3 Daniel Drake (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2009-01-05 17:17:36 UTC
What is the error message?
Does it also occur with a more simplistic edit, e.g. nano or even touch?

Can you reproduce this in gentoo-sources-2.6.28?
Comment 4 Sergey Ovcharenko 2009-01-06 22:31:17 UTC
Could you provide some information on the version of samba-server you're connecting to? It can be found in /proc/fs/cifs/DebugData.
Comment 5 Daniel Drake (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2009-01-20 20:49:23 UTC
stano, what was the resolution here?
