While git installation, updating emacs elisps with app-admin/emacs-updater is suggested, but there's no such package in prefix tree. I personally ecopy-ed, and realized that there are two things to be cleared before adding the package; one is bug #252823 about qfile -R, and another is prefixed path (a patch follows).
Created attachment 176620 [details, diff] patch against the script
Next version of emacs-updater will be more Prefix-friendly: <http://sources.gentoo.org/viewcvs.py/emacs/emacs-updater/emacs-updater?r1=1204&r2=1219>
I'll wait for 1.3 to hit the rsync mirrors (has just been committed) and then import it.
emacs-updater-1.3 committed to Portage, distfile is on mirrors.

Ok, added this to the tree. Thanks emacs team for making things easier!

Which we do now, but it doesn't hurt non-Prefix ...
Thank you for adding the package. Will you keyword it with ~x86-macos, please?
as far as I can see it already is.
oops, sorry. It wasn't an hour ago. I'll sync again later.
rsync seems to be outdated :/ http://rsync4.prefix.freens.org/portage-prefix/app-admin/emacs-updater/emacs-updater-1.3.ebuild http://rsync1.prefix.freens.org/app-admin/emacs-updater/emacs-updater-1.3.ebuild perhaps something broke :(
