Description Chen Wen 2008-12-28 07:52:36 UTC
National Chiao Tung University (rsync) service works.
can you add this link to mirror list?
distfiles: rsync://gentoo.cs.nctu.edu.tw/gentoo-distfiles
portage : rsync://gentoo.cs.nctu.edu.tw/gentoo-portage

Reproducible: Always

Chen,

We would have to run tests before we add on these mirrors, so I've added you to our test system. Please make sure the gentoo-portage mirror is sync'ing twice in an hour as per http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/rsync.xml

We'll keep you posted on your progress.

The 'gentoo-distfiles' module does not seem to be set up correctly. rsync error is below:

@ERROR: Unknown module 'gentoo-distfiles'
rsync error: error starting client-server protocol (code 5) at main.c(1504) [receiver=3.0.5]

Yep, that seems to have fixed it. We're picking up the distfiles mirror now.

However, the portage mirror seems to not be sync'ing every 30 minutes, as mentioned in the documentation (current lag is >=46.37 minutes).

Chen, do you have any updates on the gentoo-portage mirror sync times?

Yes,we do rsync every 30 min,but as follow...

17 * * * * /home/mirror/gentoo-adm/scripts/gentoo-portage-rsync.sh
47 * * * * /home/mirror/gentoo-adm/scripts/gentoo-portage-rsync.sh

We do update like this for traffic shaping.

Please see the FAQ at http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/rsync.xml - sync'ing at 17m and 47m is probably why we're seeing this problem.

Portage mirror seems to be fine now. However, I see that the distfiles mirror is lagging by 8 hours today. Please fix this.

We rsync distfile "0-23/4",I think it's fine.
But how do you find 8 hours delay?
I will check the point you figure out.
thx!

We're sorry, but the mirror does not meet the required criteria to be added as an official Gentoo mirror. You may re-open this bug in 6 months, at which point we will re-test it. You're welcome to keep running the mirror for yourself based on another public mirror, but it won't be on our mirror lists or rotations. Thanks for wanting to help Gentoo out with a mirror.
