Description Frank Krömmelbein 2008-12-27 15:13:54 UTC
Please stabilize x11-misc/read-edid-1.4.2 AFTER the stabili. of sys-kernel/linux-headers-2.6.27-r2 (Bug: 252645)

The actual stable Version read-edid-1.4.1-r1 did not compile with newer Version of the linux-headers see also Bug: 235310
Version 1.4.2 works for me.

Reproducible: Always
Comment 1 Gordon Malm (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2009-01-08 11:40:05 UTC
desktop-misc, just dropping a note. sys-kernel/linux-headers-2.6.27-r2 has gone stable on x86/amd64 and current stable x11-misc/read-edid for those ARCHs now fails to compile.
Comment 2 Piotr Szymaniak 2009-01-13 20:38:23 UTC
Stable read-edid (the mentioned 1.4.1-r1) just failed for me with linux-headers-2.6.27-r2...

Patch solves compilation problems.

According to: http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=502126
read-edid fails to build on new kernels (>=2.6.26-rc1) because *_MASK definitions in kernel has been moved to X86_EFLAGS_* .
This patch redefines *_MASK calls.
Comment 5 Ivan Kurnosov 2009-01-31 08:01:55 UTC
get the same error. please stabilize :-(

Tanks for the patch.

Now it compile without any prolems.
Comment 7 Matthew Kern 2009-02-10 23:40:36 UTC
please people, 1.4.2 is EXACTLY the same as 1.4.1 with the fix for new kernels. There is NO reason not to mark it stable.

2.0.0, however, does require libx86, which is unstable, and therefore should stay unstable.

As maintainer, (because of this very bug, in fact), I've got to say, this is unacceptable. I thought all this was over a while ago, but just came across the problem again when installing gentoo on my brother's stable laptop.
Comment 8 Christian Ehlers 2009-02-11 15:28:04 UTC
I got this problem today as well. I masked 1.4.1-r1 and unmasked 1.4.2 which went through without problems. In case anyone needs it, my emerge --info is below.

thank you SOO MUCH... that was the arch that actually mattered, and now it's good.

All other archs should build fine with the old one... mark this fixed?

No, the other should sync with x86 and amd64 anyway. You can leave the bug though to avoid bug spam.
