# emerge -p sendmail

These are the packages that I would merge, in order:

Calculating dependencies ...done!
!!! Cannot resolve a virtual package name to an ebuild.
!!! This is a bug, please report it. (virtual/mta)

-- Note this is on a recent virgin install with sendmail already emerged. (Off topic: I was just
trying to check which version it is, since it turns out that while for most major packages
Gentoo's philosophy is to enable everything remotely useful, Gentoo's sendmail is so minimal I'll
need to rebuild it to have it be usable. There are of course security reasons to keep sendmail
minimal, if people don't know what they're doing, but they shouldn't be installing it anyway.)

use portage-2.0.48-r5 or portage-2.0.48-r7
You probably have -r6
Comment 2 Whit Blauvelt 2003-07-25 11:59:55 UTC
