Description David Kredba 2008-12-26 09:12:36 UTC
Emerging dev-java/fop on ~amd64 results in dependency dev-java/sun-jdk-1.4.2.19.
The comment #35 in bug 242106 definitely said that there will be now way to get dev-java/sun-jdk-1.4.2.19 emerged/installed on amd64.

There must be used java from emul-linux packages, app-emulation/emul-linux-x86-java-1.4.2.19 for amd64.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Try to emerge fop on ~amd64
2.
3.

Actual Results:
Needed dependency is not possible to emerge, emerge fails on ~amd64 or amd64, bug #242106.

Expected Results:
app-emulation/emul-linux-x86-java-1.4.2.19 is used as dependant java instead.

Comment 1 Serkan Kaba (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2008-12-26 12:45:56 UTC
please post emerge --tree output. fop itself doesn't depend on 1.4 specifically but probably a dependdency does. Dependening on emul-linux-x86-java is not possible since it contains jre bits only.

Comment 3 Serkan Kaba (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2008-12-30 13:18:50 UTC
It's not keyworded for x86, there's definetely something wrong here. By the way batik is pulling virtual/jdk-1.4
Comment 4 Zac Medico gentoo-dev 2008-12-30 21:58:19 UTC
I don't understand why virtual/jdk-1.4 is being pulled in. Please post emerge --pretend --debug output for the command.
Comment 5 Serkan Kaba (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2008-12-30 22:07:15 UTC
You have x86 and ~x86 in in your ACCEPT_KEYWORDS (Spotted by eagle eyes of Zac :P). So that may be the reason.
Comment 6 Zac Medico gentoo-dev 2008-12-30 22:22:16 UTC
Considering the strange ACCEPT_KEYWORDS, I guess this bug is invalid. FWIW, you can remove those keywords just for sun-jdk like this:

echo "dev-java/sun-jdk -x86 -~x86" >> /etc/portage/package.keywords
Comment 7 David Kredba 2009-01-02 17:12:31 UTC
You are right! Sorry for wasting your time.

Maybe portage should be troll safe :-).

Please close the bug as invalid.

Best regards, David.
