can you add these patchsets to gentoo-sources ? they're backports by the s390 guys to 2.6.27 from latest git. http://download.boulder.ibm.com/ibmdl/pub/software/dw/linux390/ht_src/linux-2.6.27-s390-00.tar.gz http://download.boulder.ibm.com/ibmdl/pub/software/dw/linux390/ht_src/linux-2.6.27-s390-01.tar.gz this one will probably have to be removed as it's been merged into one of the 2.6.27.x stable patchsets: linux-2.6.27-s390-00/linux-2.6.27-s390-00-018-smp-sysdev.diff otherwise, all but two patches touch only s390-specific code. the two patches that touch common code should be harmless: linux-2.6.27-s390-01-006-message-cleanup.diff linux-2.6.27-s390-01-007-zfcp-perf-data.diff
Will include in next 2.6.27 release. Does this mean that s390 is moving beyond 2.6.16?
yes, 2.6.27 is the next stable target for s390
