A complete build log is located at /var/tmp/portage/media-gfx/eog-2.22.3-r1/temp/build.log

The ebuild environment file is located at /var/tmp/portage/media-gfx/eog-2.22.3-r1/temp/environment

Expected Results:
installed gnome

If it helps at all, I have fully updated the system and portage and tried running emerge gnome several times now and keep getting the same error. I have use variables -doc -samba -cups -kde -qt3 -qt4 -arts

I ran emerge gnomelight and got the same compilation error on a different package.

Comment 3 Nate S 2008-12-25 04:07:39 UTC
the top-most build error is ERROR: gnome-base/gnome-panel-2.22.2 failed.

the call stack is Call stack:
ebuild.sh, line 49: Called src_compile
environment, line 2757: Called gnome2_src_compile
environment, line 2130: Called die

I tried running emerge gnome several times with different -march options in the /etc/make.conf file and got the same error. At first i had -march=pentium4 then -march=i686.

Here is the current emerge --info:

I completely removed the -march option and got the same error.
Comment 5 Gilles Dartiguelongue (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2008-12-25 11:20:31 UTC
please attach build.log, the topmost error you copied is a message from portage not the actual error we are interested in. Anyway please attach the full build.log, that will lead us somewhere.

Comment 7 Nate S 2008-12-26 03:02:44 UTC
after reading the build.log, it seems that libxml2 was missing. So, I ran emerge libxml2 and the problem was fixed. Thanks for the help.
