When i launch the gentoo 2008 livecd on my laptop , a hp pavillon ze4400. The process is blocked when it try to mount /dev/sr0 , my computer try to read the disc while a few second, and then retry after and again and again. It says : "Attempting to mount media on :- /dev/sr0" and nothing It appears after loading modules and asking the user for a keyboard layout.
Try to use the "scandelay" feature in Isolinux/Syslinux prompt. Something like: boot: gentoo scandelay=60 or try "nodetect". You can see all the possible command line options by pressing the F1 F2 F3 keys in that prompt. If all those don't work, reopen the bug.
Your solutions doesn't work. I tried everything, its always the same problem

What is that /dev/sr0 device? Is it a usb CDROM drive or something? Also, please give us the full url of the server where you downloaded the specific iso cd. Also, have you tried the "nohotplug" option? There is something in your hardware that our livecd doesn't like, it seems.

I tried all options including nohotplug. I get the cd from http://torrents.gentoo.org/torrents/livecd-i686-installer-2008.0-r1.torrent At this time my hardware works very well with other linux like fedora...

Try this ISO built just a few days ago. http://gentoo.osuosl.org/experimental/x86/autobuilds/20081224/install-x86-minimal-20081224.iso
This is likely fixed with newer installcd autobuilds. Please reopen if it isn't.
