Jack Morgan (jmorgan) was about the second sparc developer ever and retired in 2003. Now he has seen the light and wishes to return to the (sparc) fold, perhaps to help with the release process. We will be hooking him up with a mentor soon.
Jack, you can connect me on Freenode with nick ssuominen if you need mentoring (checking quizs and ebuilds). I'm online about everyday, so it shouldn't be hard to catch me. I'm on GMT+2 timezone, Finland.
I will be unavailable between 2008-12-24 and 2009-01-07 so it will be at least then before I can take this bug.
Jack, I will be your recruiter. Please send your quizzes to recruiters@gentoo.org when approved by your mentor (and make sure that they are the latest versions!). Always add a comment to this bug when you send something to that address. When the quizzes are sent please contact me by IRC or email to schedule the first review session. If you think that recruiters aren't paying attention to this bug at any later point in time, it's your job to ping us on IRC if you don't want any delays.
Email was sent today with my ebuild-quiz.txt. My mentor has been missing for a month or so. Dawid Weglinski (cla) was able to help me with my quiz. Thanks
Emailed my final draft of ebuild-quiz.txt. Will be mailing end-quiz.txt in a day or so. I need my mentor to check it. Thanks.
Any news here?
Sorry for not taking care of this sooner. My mother-in-law passed away recently so I have been distracted. I'll get this finished in the next 48 Hours. Thanks for your patience.
I finally got my end-quiz done. I've sent it via email. I'll ping my recruiter on irc. Thanks!
Short update: Started the end quiz review today and ran into some problems. Let's see how to continue.
Short update: Jack mailed he will be back in September.
(In reply to comment #10) > Short update: Jack mailed he will be back in September. > It's already well into September.
Sorry for the long delay. I've had several things going on in my personal life but now I'm ready to move forward with Gentoo. I'll be working over the next few weeks to get more involved and to close out this bug. Thanks, Jack Morgan
Please close this bug. It's been over a year and I've not found time to get this done. I'll continue to be an AT. Raúl, please remove me for all the bugs mailing list you have me on. Thanks!
(In reply to comment #13) > Please close this bug. It's been over a year and I've not found time to get > this done. I'll continue to be an AT. > Thanks for letting us know.
I'm reopening this bug as Jack would like to return and do arch team work. I've added the arch teams Jack would like to work on (amd64, ia64, ppc64, sparc).
Jack what is the status of your quizzes? Are you running for developer or staffer?
I will be your recruiter. Please contact me by IRC or email to schedule the first review session. If you think that recruiters aren't paying attention to this bug at any later point in time, it's your job to ping us on IRC if you don't want any delays.
I'm just finishing the final edit of my quizzes and an additional request to fix an ebuild. I'll have those done shortly.
gentooAccess manually set to "dev.gentoo.org" and "cvs.gentoo.org"
What we did: - LDAP - bugzilla - cvs/svn/git groups on cvs.gentoo.org - IRC cloak Automatic: - gentoo-core - gentoo-dev-announcement Pending: - announcement What you need to do: - subscribe to mailing lists with your @gentoo.org address - request forum status bump in #gentoo-forums or by mail to forum-mods@gentoo.org (if you have a forums account) - send yourself mail to check if it works - add yourself to mail aliases ( like java@gentoo.org ) see /var/mail/alias on dev.gentoo.org - ask team leads to add yourself to herds.xml for the herds you want to join or do it yourself if you have the permission to do so - set lat and lon attributes in LDAP if you want others to know where exactly you are located - set gentooIM if you want people to be able to contact you via other means than email - If you want your blog to be syndicated to planet.gentoo.org, check http://www.gentoo.org/proj/en/userrel/planet/index.xml - contact trustees@gentoo.org for Foundation membership (optional) Since you had no mentor for your quizzes, I would advice you to ask on #gentoo-dev-help irc channel or gentoo-dev mailing list if you want some helps with your ebuilds. Asking the leaders and members of the teams you will join is also a good option.
(In reply to comment #20) > Pending: > - announcement Done. Welcome!
Reopening since Jack hasn't committed anything since he returned. Last cvs activity: Never Last bugzilla activity: 2012-07-17 (4 overall) first e-mail sent today
Jack replied and he is still active
Looks to be still inactive
I'm still active, just not in cvs for a while. thanks
(In reply to Jack Morgan from comment #25) > I'm still active, just not in cvs for a while. thanks Can you please set a devaway message with an approximately ETA to return? Thanks
he is still around
He is inactive for a long time
Still here but inactive recently. I still plan to work on Gentoo. thanks
Are you still active in all the projects you are listed on? They are: cjk, ia64, kde, powerpc, sparc. For the case that needs to be updated :/ Thanks
It looks you still will continue on arch teams, but what about kde and cjk projects? Thanks
What is the status currently? It seems you are still away, but no devaway message exists :/
I fell away from Gentoo for a while but now resurfacing. Sorry for poor communication on my status. Thanks for checking in.
Looks like finally nothing changed :( (last commit still from 2015) - bugs, packages and projects cleaned
What is my current status?
I don't think I'm ready to retire yet. I had some trouble with my gpg key previously which was preventing me from committing to the git repo. I will look to fix this first so i can do keywording again. thanks
Any news on this? Thanks
I don't understand your question? I'm not retiring.
But, are you able to commit finally?
If you are asking if I resolved by gpg key issue in comment #36, then yes, its resolved. I am able to make commits. thanks
great!
First mail sent.
Second mail sent.
I had some problem with my gpg key last time I tried to keyword something. I'll take a look again before the end of the month (January). Thanks.
Ping.
Hey, I'm getting my systems updated. I think my gpg key is fine (it passed glep63-check script). If I'm missing anything else that would prevent me from making commits, let me know. I will start working on keyworking/stablereq next. Thanks for following up
