Please consider applying (parts of) our Prefix patch from here: http://overlays.gentoo.org/proj/alt/browser/trunk/prefix-overlay/app-admin/eselect-emacs/files/eselect-emacs-1.7-prefix.patch?rev=35753 I'm flexible on the name of the variable, where it is declared (even before DESCRIPTION so it can be used in there?), and its default value (may be "", then we'll sed around it in Prefix, instead of using our eprefixify). Applying (and maintaining) this diff would greatly reduce my headache(s) (and those of others). Any questions, please shoot, you'd greatly help the Prefix team by even considering inclusion of this patch.
eselect-ctags-1.7 is of the same type, but solved using a dirty hack. I can rewrite this to a proper patch. http://overlays.gentoo.org/proj/alt/browser/trunk/prefix-overlay/app-admin/eselect-ctags/files/eselect-ctags-1.3-prefix.patch?rev=35753
Committed to Emacs repo, r1195: 2008-12-21 Ulrich Mueller <ulm@gentoo.org> * ctags.eselect (bindir, man1dir): * emacs.eselect (bindir, man1dir, infodir, envdir): New variables for directory names. This will facilitate using this package on Gentoo Prefix, bug 251847. BTW, the "upstream" package is just eselect-emacs (i.e. common tarball for emacs and ctags modules), so changing the Summary back to its first wording.
eselect-emacs-1.8 has been released (still package masked in main tree). Please test in Prefix.
<grobian> ulm: eselect-emacs and ctags seem to work fine for me [21:57] Fixed then, and unmasked in main tree.
