We don't have ebuild for this package.

Nothing more than a rename, please test.

Seems that this ebuild doesn't work with portaudio-18.1-r6.
PaStreamCallbackTimeInfo is not defined in this version.
After an update to portaudio-19_pre20071207 everything works.

This shouldn't have happened to you, see bug 253920. The depend line says > portaudio-18, so I wonder how you achieved that a newer Portaudio has not been pulled (apart from the fact that there is no Portaudio 18 in Gentoo anymore).

Well, I did an emerge -DNupv world, got lirc-0.8.4a to update to but no portaudio.
Then, checked what the error was and looked at portaudio. Seemed to be missing and did a manual emerge -pv portaudio. That got me portaudio-19. After manually emerge -v portaudio, emerge -v lirc worked. Seems there was something wrong with the dependency resolution of portage. I'm willing to try and reproduce the problem but a downgrade to the old portaudio seems impossible as it is like you say removed.
Thanks anyway

Will 0.8.4a be unmasked or slotted or whatever anytime soon?

 You use which lirc modules?

I don't really understand this. 0.8.4a is in normal testing as it is not in Portage long enough.
