This is a patch for gnome-bg.c in gnome-desktop

I've submitted this to the gnome bugzilla, but I've been told that the maintainer of gnome-desktop can be slow to respond, so I'm hoping to have this included with gentoo anyway until that happens
Comment 2 Gilles Dartiguelongue (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2008-12-19 13:41:09 UTC
patch looks sane
Comment 3 Gilles Dartiguelongue (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2008-12-21 18:31:39 UTC
however, it doesn't apply to 2.24.1, which file did you get this diff from ?
Comment 4 Paul 2008-12-22 06:39:12 UTC
gnome-desktop-2.24.2/libgnome-desktop/gnome-bg.c
Comment 5 Gilles Dartiguelongue (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2009-01-04 00:20:46 UTC
fixed in gnome-desktop-2.24.2-r1. Thanks for reporting.

Does this work in a situation without nautilus getting launched? When /apps/nautilus/preferences/show_desktop is false in gconf, that is. I mean, does a background get drawn on the iconless desktop?

Just idle curiousity, I will see once I upgrade on my desktop at some point where I don't use nautilus
Comment 7 Paul 2009-01-06 04:09:38 UTC
Yes, this works without nautilus. g-s-d will draw the background before nautilus loads. That is what this patch fixes.
