Description W.A. Collier 2002-05-06 22:52:20 UTC
I usually do a emerge --clean rsync per "general recommendations"

But this now has blown up. I have several apps that I use that were installed, and have updated just
fine until I did my --clean rsync today from the mirrors.

as an example, for some reason, the follwoing have disappeared from app-misc:
units
gperiodic (my son uses periodic chart)
ithought
euler

These were installed a whiel back and have been through the update jsut fine until today. God only
knows what welse got dumped from the portage tree without any notice.

Are these apps oficially not part of portage anymore? If so, where should I look for notification
when you are dropping packages out of portage? If not, then please look at your mirroring and the
portage tree - its messed up pretty bad in terms do throwing away apps that were there just 3 days
ago.

Hi!

A new portage category, app-sci, has been created for scientific, engineering
and math applications. You will find that the following three apps have been
moved there. Other sci, eng and math apps will be making the move in the near
future.

units
gperiodic
euler

I just 'emerge --clean rsync'd and the following is still in app-misc.
