Description Eric Johnson 2008-12-15 19:06:14 UTC
I am able to choose the HP LaserJet 1200 printer that plugs directly into my router. Given that the printer is shared by two other Macs on my network, I cannot figure out, when I print, exactly the best way to use this printer. How do I configure CUPS? What USE flags should I set? Some clarity on how this works would be wonderful.

What is particularly bizarre is that sometimes I can print from Linux to this printer, and sometimes I cannot. I haven't been able to understand what is going on here.

Reproducible: Always

I would prefer have all zeroconf related flags merged in only one, this was discussed some time ago in:
http://www.mail-archive.com/gentoo-dev@lists.gentoo.org/msg31489.html

but I don't know anything about the progress :-(

Irrelevant to this bug; the GDP does not create USE flags.

CCing the printing herd.

Guys, have any suggestions? Patches? Or should we just link to an existing outside resource to avoid duplicating the work?

Can't fix. We do already have instructions on how to print via the network. Zeroconf is something that no one seems to know anything about. At this point, all I can say is "check Google."

Closing as CANTFIX.
