If NM starts the wpa_supplicant, then it segfaults. Tested with 0.5.7 and 0.5.10. Reprod: - Start NetworkManager - Click on some network from applet (unencrypted, WEP or WPA) - Enter the pass, then the icon switch to connecting and disconnected state. Syslog reports segfault from wpa_supplicant.

This is MSI Ex600X notebook, and wpa_supplicant is works very well with baselayout scripts. Only the NetworkManager have a problem.
If you do not have rights to assign bugs then you should not CC random people.
What exact command does nm issue that makes wpa_supplicant segfault? Can you reproduce it and collect a gdb backtrace?
Can you test the 0.6.x wpa_supplicant as well? And could you post the output of emerge -pv wpa_supplicant
My laptop is crashed from some other causes, but when it works again, i will post the required outputs darkside: sorry Jeroen: wpa_supplicant -g/var/run/wpa_supplicant.pid <- This is a commandline, what starts. Steev: I didn't tried 0.6.x branch. If it fails again, I will do it. Btw, Ccache can cause my problems?
I cannot reproduce this problem on my new system on my laptop. I don't know what can happened.
Would you try it with a 2.6.29 version of gentoo-sources and wpa_supplicant-0.6.9 and see if it works?
I'm currently stopped using NM for network handling and I must consolidate my laptop now, because is there a very unstable NM too. I'll report if i found a solution...
