This shouldn't be necessary once the 7.3.0 ebuild is committed (unless you want to remain on nightlies, of course). Regarding your patch, I see you've added a Slim/Utils/OS/Gentoo.pm module - if you do that then you shouldn't have to patch any paths in any other parts of the source. Avoiding that what was the reason for supporting these platform-specific modules, after all.

I just remembered that's if you call your platform module Custom.pm rather than Gentoo.pm. You'll see the one I created when it hits portage (it's packaged as /usr/portage/media-sound/squeezecenter/files/gentoo-filepaths.pm).
