Hello, Trying to build gworkspace, I discovered that emerge wanted to build WindowMaker (which is stupid by itself, considering that gworkspace is supposed to replace WindowMaker...) bash-2.05b# emerge -p gworkspace These are the packages that I would merge, in order: Calculating dependencies ...done! [ebuild N ] x11-wm/windowmaker-0.80.2-r2 [ebuild N ] dev-libs/gmp-4.1-r1 [ebuild N ] dev-libs/ffcall-1.8d [ebuild N ] dev-util/gnustep-make-1.6.0 [ebuild N ] dev-util/gnustep-base-1.6.0 [ebuild N ] dev-util/gnustep-gui-0.8.5-r1 [ebuild N ] app-gnustep/gworkspace-0.5.3 [ebuild N ] dev-util/gnustep-back-0.8.5-r1 Looking closer, I discovered that the package requiring windowmaker is gnustep-make. But why is it like this? Logically it should be the other way around. To get rid of this requirement would give the possibility to choose (and build) either gworkspace or windowmaker. Daniel Tourde
gworkspace is not a replacement for windowmaker. windowmaker is simply the only GNUstep compliant Window Manager in existance right now. I have no idea why gnustep-make wants windowmaker... `WindowMaker (Version >= 0.62) (OPTIONAL)' GNUstep and WindowMaker work together to provide a consistant interface. Although it is not required, GNUstep will work much better if you use it with the WindowMaker window manager. In addition, WindowMaker includes some functionality that GNUstep uses that would otherwise not be available. Get WindowMaker from <http://www.windowmaker.org>. Hmmm....
The windowmaker dependancy has been removed.
