I know that this build is masked, but wanted to pass the info on anyway. I am also reporting this to the OpeOffice.org bugzilla. Emerging openoffice-1.1_rc1 generates the following error. This happens consistently. I do not feel that it is a disk space issue, since it occurs at the same part of the compile process, no matter how much free space is available. I'm using gcc-3.2.3, and blackdown-jdk-1.4.1, and glibc-2.3.2. > System uname: 2.6.0-test1 i686 Pentium III (Coppermine) Bet that is your problem. Try building again with a 2.4 kernel. There are several packages that have problems with 2.5 and/or 2.6 kernels, OOo is just one of them.
That's true for the stable version of OOo as well, btw.
I'll give building with the 2.4 kernel a try -- probably this weekend -- but for my edification -- why would a different kernel cause problems with compiling?
I have the same problem as Wilbur on one machine, but with openoffice-1.0.3-r1, kernel 2.0.6-test2 - so I would guess it's really kernel related.
Please test out rc2. There have been many bugfixes in rc2.
It emerges here but is useless. Just like some earlier ebuild, /opt/OpenOffice.org1.1_rc1 only has the one sub-directory - user; so no program and nothing runs. ################################################# Last bit of emerge log: WARNING! You seem to compile with LANGUAGES=44, this language is unrecognised and so unsupported. I actually used the openoffice translation table to get the number name matching, and there is no language 44 (uk english?) support in it. If you explicitly unset LANGUAGES it should work. Setting languages to any of the values in the rc2 ebuild should work. Btw. in rc2 unvalid languages should no longer be possible. If rc2 doesn't work please attach a log for rc2
Thanks Paul. I've unset LANGUAGE and am retrying. rc2 is broken here: 100%[=========================================================>] 186,588,978 57.70K/s ETA 00:00 11:47:58 (57.70 KB/s) - `/usr/portage/distfiles/OOo_1.1rc2_source.tar.bz2' saved [186588978/186588978] !!! Note the double slash after distfiles.
This happens because openoffice removed the first two mirrors which are listed in the ebuild Remove http://ny1.mirror.openoffice.org/stable/${MY_PV}/OOo_${MY_PV}_source.tar.bz2 and http://sf1.mirror.openoffice.org/stable/${MY_PV}/OOo_${MY_PV}_source.tar.bz2 From SRC_URI and fetch again
I just fixed the ebuild to use the "just updated" mirror list. This should ascertain that the file on the mirrors will get corrected.

Please manually download http://niihau.student.utwente.nl/openoffice/stable/1.1rc2/OOo_1.1rc2_source.tar.bz2 or other files for a while. The file on the gentoo mirrors is wrong. And it tries to do a partial download taking that wrong error message as the start (of course being wrong). Or from any of the other openoffice mirrors of course
OK, openoffice-1.1_rc1 emerged and runs OK. Downloaded http://niihau.student.utwente.nl/openoffice/stable/1.1rc2/OOo_1.1rc2_source.tar.bz2 and 1.1_rc is building as we speak. Thanks Paul.
rc2 build file here, Paul. Thanks.
Ok, stay tuned as rc3 will come shortly (the rc4 source package will also be released very soon (and will become 1.1.0 if nothing goes wrong) and we should be able to have an ebuild for it fast).
