Description Wilbur Pan 2003-07-22 06:10:49 UTC
I know that this build is masked, but wanted to pass the info on anyway. I am also
reporting this to the OpeOffice.org bugzilla.

Emerging openoffice-1.1_rc1 generates the following error. This happens consistently.
I do not feel that it is a disk space issue, since it occurs at the same part of the compile
process, no matter how much free space is available.

I'm using gcc-3.2.3, and blackdown-jdk-1.4.1, and glibc-2.3.2.

This is the error:

There seems to be something wrong in building the build system. Which cflags are you using? Could you post the output of "emerge --info"
Comment 2 Wilbur Pan 2003-07-23 05:44:40 UTC
Here's my emerge --info, um, info:

> System uname: 2.6.0-test1 i686 Pentium III (Coppermine)

Bet that is your problem. Try building again with a 2.4 kernel.
There are several packages that have problems with 2.5 and/or 2.6
kernels, OOo is just one of them.
Comment 4 Roger Luethi 2003-07-25 09:47:54 UTC
That's true for the stable version of OOo as well, btw.
Comment 5 Wilbur Pan 2003-07-30 14:11:07 UTC
I'll give building with the 2.4 kernel a try -- probably this weekend -- but for my
edification -- why would a different kernel cause problems with compiling?
Comment 6 Patrick Kursawe (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2003-08-15 04:33:30 UTC
I have the same problem as Wilbur on one machine, but with openoffice-1.0.3-r1, kernel 2.0.6-test2 - so I would guess it's really kernel related.
Comment 7 Paul de Vrieze (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2003-08-15 05:40:18 UTC
Please test out rc2. There have been many bugfixes in rc2.
Comment 8 Peter Ruskin 2003-08-16 16:46:16 UTC
It emerges here but is useless. Just like some earlier ebuild, /opt/OpenOffice.org1.1_rc1 only has the one sub-directory - user; so no program and nothing runs.

Comment 9 Paul de Vrieze (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2003-08-17 01:37:58 UTC
You seem to compile with LANGUAGES=44, this language is unrecognised and so unsupported. I actually used the openoffice translation table to get the number name matching, and there is no language 44 (uk english?) support in it. If you explicitly unset LANGUAGES it should work. Setting languages to any of the values in the rc2 ebuild should work. Btw. in rc2 unvalid languages should no longer be possible. If rc2 doesn't work please attach a log for rc2
Comment 10 Peter Ruskin 2003-08-17 03:58:47 UTC
Thanks Paul. I've unset LANGUAGE and am retrying.

rc2 is broken here:

I removed /usr/portage/distfiles/OOo_1.1rc2_source.tar.bz2 and fetched again
with the same result. Note the double slash after distfiles.
Comment 11 Andreas Proschofsky (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2003-08-17 04:06:31 UTC
This happens because openoffice removed the first two mirrors which are listed in the ebuild

Remove

http://ny1.mirror.openoffice.org/stable/${MY_PV}/OOo_${MY_PV}_source.tar.bz2

and
	http://sf1.mirror.openoffice.org/stable/${MY_PV}/OOo_${MY_PV}_source.tar.bz2

From SRC_URI and fetch again
Comment 12 Paul de Vrieze (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2003-08-17 04:59:37 UTC
I just fixed the ebuild to use the "just updated" mirror list. This should ascertain that the file on the mirrors will get corrected.
Comment 13 Peter Ruskin 2003-08-17 06:13:10 UTC
Still the same, Paul, after removing first 2 mirrors from SRC_URI:

Please manually download http://niihau.student.utwente.nl/openoffice/stable/1.1rc2/OOo_1.1rc2_source.tar.bz2
or other files for a while. The file on the gentoo mirrors is wrong. And it tries to do a partial download taking that wrong error message as the start (of course being wrong). Or from any of the other openoffice mirrors of course
Comment 15 Peter Ruskin 2003-08-17 10:40:56 UTC
OK, openoffice-1.1_rc1 emerged and runs OK. Downloaded
http://niihau.student.utwente.nl/openoffice/stable/1.1rc2/OOo_1.1rc2_source.tar.bz2
and 1.1_rc is building as we speak. Thanks Paul.
Comment 16 Peter Ruskin 2003-08-18 09:37:51 UTC
rc2 build file here, Paul. Thanks.
Comment 17 Paul de Vrieze (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2003-08-18 11:16:42 UTC
Ok, stay tuned as rc3 will come shortly (the rc4 source package will also be released very soon (and will become 1.1.0 if nothing goes wrong) and we should be able to have an ebuild for it fast).
