Description Samuli Suominen (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2008-12-10 09:47:20 UTC
Thomas is part of media-libs/hamlib upstream and knows his way around media-radio applications. We don't have any developers regarding to this area of sound.

Thomas is also active in bugzilla, and very active in Sunrise (darkside might want to comment on this one, as he has been proxy-committing packages into Portage for him, and so have I like media-radio/tlf)

Thomas has made his first draft of an ebuild quiz and sent it to me, and we have reviewed it together. He should be sending me a new copy with fixes asap, and I will forward this to recruiters.

Chainsaw, you are the lead for sound, do you accept? We could start a new subproject under sound, such as proaudio is, for radio after this.

An upstream developer in a subarea that's barely covered at all. Yes, gladly :)

Seeing how it would pretty much be a one-man team, I'd rather consider Thomas a sound developer who specialises in radio, but will likely touch other sound-related things as well.
If I could see the completed quiz, I'd appreciate that.

I have 3-4 packages that I am proxy committing for Tom. He has done great work and I haven't had any complaints with his ebuilds thus far. Tom will be a great addition to the team under Samuli's additional guidance.

Recruiters, Chainsaw, ebuild quiz should be in your mailbox.
Comment 4 Petteri Räty (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2008-12-17 22:41:27 UTC
I won't have the time to process this before Christmas Eve and then I will be two weeks in Canary Islands so I will get back to recruiting after 7th of January.
Comment 5 Tony Vroon (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2008-12-19 18:46:52 UTC
I have received the ebuild quiz and approve of the answers.
Comment 6 Thomas Beierlein gentoo-dev 2008-12-21 19:02:02 UTC

Comment 7 Petteri Räty (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2009-01-18 17:31:05 UTC
I will be your recruiter. Please contact me by IRC or email to schedule the first review session. If you think that recruiters aren't paying attention to this bug at any later point in time, it's your job to ping us on IRC if you don't want any delays.
Comment 8 Petteri Räty (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2009-01-21 20:09:28 UTC
We reviewed both quizzes today. Next Thomas needs to submit revised versions of the quizzes and extra assignment given to him. After those are done we will have a final session.
Comment 9 Thomas Beierlein gentoo-dev 2009-02-03 14:35:39 UTC
Revised versions plus homework sent to recruiters@gentoo.org.

Thomas emailed that he won't be able to contribute to Gentoo for an undetermined amount of time for personal reasons so I will have to put the recruiting process on hold until then. Just comment on this bug and we will have this bug REOPENED.

Thomas has free time now again, and we reviewed his quiz's both again today.
