Description Chuck Brewer 2003-07-21 17:51:50 UTC
new perl r12 blocking MakeMaker when r11 doesn't?
also now all of a sudden-
[blocks B    ] >=x11-base/xfree-4.3.0-r2 (from pkg x11-libs/xft-2.0.1-r2)
I've had both packages on since before that and I currently have xfree-4.3.0-r3
and xft-2.0.1-r2 both installed together for awhile, without any complaints from
portage till today...what gives?

xft blocks xfree ... the older portages didnt detect 1 way blockers ...

xft is part of xfree and having both on your system can cause issues

`emerge -C xft` and move on :)
Comment 2 Chuck Brewer 2003-07-21 20:50:35 UTC
welp xft has been part of xfree for awhile in some bastardized form or another,but sucked ass so bad that yall decided that an external package was neccessary, and have now reversed that position,fine, I can dig it, but I think its gonna be emerge -C xft && emerge xfree and move on once the files get stolen by the unmerge,no?:)

You want a new bug on the perl? doesnt make since to kick out a revision that blocks a package in the default profile,no?
Comment 3 SpanKY gentoo-dev 2003-07-21 20:53:07 UTC
the xft/xfree were merged sometime ago ... like i said, portage just never picked
up the blocker ;)

and no dont file a bug for the blocking perl things, same dilly as this ...
the 3 perl modules have been incorporated into perl
