Description Märt Bakhoff 2008-12-07 11:20:42 UTC
Transmission crashes when I try to add a new torrent, right after selecting the torrent. Happens with and without options dialog.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. install transmission (USE="gtk libnotify")
2. try to add new torrent

Actual Results:
mart@artemis ~ $ transmission
transmission: cairo.c:87: _cairo_error: Assertion `(status != CAIRO_STATUS_SUCCESS && status <= CAIRO_STATUS_INVALID_WEIGHT)' failed.
Aborted

Expected Results:
Torrent gets added / options window opens

Tried deleting ~/.config/transmission.
Tried transmission-1.4.
Tried reinstalling cairo and transmission.
using cairo-1.8.4 USE="X glitz opengl svg -debug -directfb -doc -xcb"
using global keyword ~amd64

Comment 1 Jürgen Geuter 2008-12-07 14:04:51 UTC
Same problem here.

I also tried net-p2p/deluge which dies with a similar error (python: cairo.c:87: _cairo_error: Assertion `(status != CAIRO_STATUS_SUCCESS && status <= CAIRO_STATUS_INVALID_WEIGHT)' failed.) so it seems to be something more generic than a transmission bug.

I rebuilt cairo but that didn't help.
Comment 2 Jürgen Geuter 2008-12-07 14:06:50 UTC
I also ran a revdep-rebuild but that found no problems either.
Comment 3 Märt Bakhoff 2008-12-07 17:39:47 UTC
Okay, I can confirm this is not a transmission bug. I just noticed that my net-im/pidgin-2.5.2 crashes when i try to send/receive a file. Error is once again:

mart@artemis ~ $ pidgin
pidgin: cairo.c:87: _cairo_error: Assertion `(status != CAIRO_STATUS_SUCCESS && status <= CAIRO_STATUS_INVALID_WEIGHT)' failed.
Aborted
Comment 4 Märt Bakhoff 2008-12-07 17:57:14 UTC
Same error reported with firefox: Bug 250159

It would seem that the problem is in x11-libs/cairo-1.8.4
Downgrading to cairo-1.8.2 resolves the problem.

Marking this bug invalid as it has nothing to do with transmission.
