Attempted a 'emerge -uv world' after a successful 'emerge -uv system && revdep-rebuild'.  The cacti package is the only one which failed.  Output from the log follows:

Please try to re-emerge webapp-config. It looks like you updated python without rebuilding all python apps?

Was, by any chance, python upgraded during that update ?
If so, did you use python updater ?

python-updater had not been run on my server for three years (2.3 to 2.4).  In fact, python-updater was still at version 0.2 instead of the current version 0.5.  There were several other packages that had to be updated before it would run correctly.  Once that was completed, the original package upgraded correctly.
