Description CJ Kucera 2008-12-03 19:48:29 UTC
When attempting to emerge gnome-base/gnome-control-center-2.22.2.1, I get the following after a little while:

/bin/sh ../../libtool --tag=CC --mode=link i686-pc-linux-gnu-gcc -march=pentium3 -O3 -pipe -Wall -module -avoid-version -no-undefined -export-symbols-regex 'nautilus_module_.*' -Wl,-O1 -o libnautilus-themus.la -rpath themus-properties-view.lo themus-properties-main.lo -pthread -lnautilus-extension -lgtk-x11-2.0 -lgnomevfs-2 -lgdk-x11-2.0 -latk-1.0 -lgdk_pixbuf-2.0 -lpangocairo-1.0 -lpango-1.0 -lcairo -lgconf-2 -lgobject-2.0 -lORBit-2 -lm -lgmodule-2.0 -ldl -lgthread-2.0 -lrt -lglib-2.0 ../../capplets/common/libcommon.la -lXcursor

I searched around in here a bit, and while there were some other bugs which reference that libtool error, some of which are even Gnome-related, it didn't look to me like the same issues. I did make sure that I'm at libtool-1.5.26, which is the current stable, in case that makes a difference.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. emerge =gnome-control-center-2.22.2.1

full build.log please. And also, try to rebuild with -O2 as -O3 isn't supported by upstream nor gnome herd.

List of packages emerged since the last time I had tried

Actually, it seems like something that I installed inbetween then and now must have fixed the problem. The build now works for me, either with -O3 or -O2 (though I've 'downgraded' my make.conf to use -O2 anyway; I actually didn't realize that was still in effect, this box has been live for a long time now). I'm attaching a list of packages that I had emerged in the meantime, though I'm sure nobody will feel like going through the list to figure out which one could have fixed the problem. Perhaps if somebody else with the same problem stumbles across this bug they'll find it helpful though. I'll close this out.

Thanks, regardless!
