I used gentoo 1.4_rc4 3stage livecd to boot ECS A907 desknote. Selecting booting
worked fine until it check partition on hda. The bootup stopped there. It even
doesn't reach login prompt.

try booting with "gento ide=nodma" or try "smp" (different kernel)

Please test the latest release and reopen the bug if it doesn't work.
