As seen in the provided URL a new version of xf86-input-evdev is out. More than one week has passed, so I'm not supposed to having killed a kitten ;-) Enhancements and bug fixes as follows: Note that this version does not grab the event device anymore. If you're updating from evdev 2.0, ensure you have [1] in the server to avoid events being sent to the TTY. Other patches of interest [2-4] are recommended to avoid duplicate events. Consider the evdev 2.0 branch to be discontinued. IIRC, the first three patches are already in xorg-server 1.5.3.

evedev 2.1.0 is experimental. If we bump it at all (don't worry, we will ;) ) it'll go into the x11 overlay, along with xserver 1.5.99. Thanks

Nothing in the announcement says it is: it even goes as far as saying: "Consider the evdev 2.0 branch to be discontinued"
It depends on at least 1.5.3, so it's in the overlay till then.
It's been in the tree for a while. Closing.
