djszapi djszapi #

I used these two program at the same time on my earlier distributions and I don't understand why i can't use it on gentoo at thhe same time.

Once more time to understand the purpose of these 2 programs:

sys-apps/lm_sensors:
     Description: Hardware Monitoring user-space utilities

So this is a hardware monitoring program!

sys-apps/i2c-tools:
Description: I2C tools for bus probing, chip dumping, register-level access helpers, EEPROM decoding scripts, and more
So this is a program to program EEPROM IC (e.g. 24xxx serie) from my PC, now from gentoo distribution.

Please Unblock them!

Please give me a response what time takes it for You, if possible!

Thank You!

Gentoo is the best distribution among linux distribution :o)

Reproducible: Always

You failed to understand the output.

lm_sensors 3 were a major redesign over 2.
Some of the parts of v2 series were moved to a different package
(I think it was exactly i2c-tools), so you need to unmerge v2 series
first to prevent file collision.
Comment 2 Jeroen Roovers (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2008-11-26 18:14:35 UTC
i2c-tools was split from lm_sensors starting from version 3 of the latter. As <lm_sensors-3 installs some of the same files, having both installed would lead to file collisions. Unmask >=lm_sensors-3 and unmerge <lm_sensors-3 and you should be OK.
