Description Garth 2008-11-23 23:48:23 UTC
With no modification, I was able to compile & execute apcupsd-3.14.3 on an ARM arch.

Compilation was performed through cross-compiling on a amd64 machine, while the code is running on a D-Link DNS-323 with default OS and fun-plug 0.5 beta.
I am not using the init script as they're not compatible with the format used by the NAS but the software itself is running perfectly. It start/stop normally, and when the battery ran low, it halted the device normally.

Also, apcupsd doesn't have any counter-indication to run on ARM.

So, I'm thinking that apcupsd could gain ~arm. (At least for version 3.14.3 as I didn't try any other one).

Taking over. Michael you let this package rot so much, since I need it, I'm going to take it over and take care.

Please don't say I didn't give you enough notice, last year I already asked you this much and now I'm simply tired.

Don't see whats the point if you aren't using gentoo...

I do realize it's not the usual way of testing packages in the tree, but I just though to let someone know so it could be marked at least ~arm.
That way, if someone else who has a UPS compatible with apcupsd connected to an ARM based machine, they would more readily know that it should work. That and simplifying their lives by not having to modify the ebuild file to add ~arm (or arm), or enter something like -arm in their package.keywords (not really the best thing to ever do).
(note I do use gentoo on all my other machines, just don't have an actual arm based computer)

Well, we just add keywords if a Gentoo user asks for them, since we're understaffed, so WONTFIX for now.
